The Batman (directed by Matt Reeves) will be released, presumably, on October 1, 2021. Its trailer has recently been dropped during DC’s FanDome event. In the trailer, we saw Robert Pattinson’s version of the superhero and Colin Farrell as Penguin.

We could also observe a mysterious greeting card that has a riddle on it and 11 symbols.

Andrew Lane, a fan of DC, was so excited after seeing the trailer that he wanted to know what this code means. So, he examined the repeated symbols, checked multiple versions, and got the answer. The greeting card’s question about the dead liar has a pretty concise answer: “He lies still.”

When asked about the method that he used, Andrew replied that he worked with English letters’ frequency and the symbols’ repetition throughout the code. He based his hypotheses on the fact that ‘E’ is the most frequent letter, whereas ‘L’ is among the most frequent consecutive letters.

Even though it’s not the most complicated code to ever exist, props to Andrew for solving it, and also doing it very quickly.

This answer leads us to the next question: who this dead liar is. Could it be Bruce Wayne’s dad, Thomas, who we usually hear nothing bad about? This wouldn’t exactly be a groundbreaking twist, because there have been precedents, for example, Telltale’s Batman games. There Bruce’s dad is far from being innocent; he’s portrayed as a prominent criminal.

However, at this point, that could be anyone, for all we know so far.

Batman’s new movie will be set outside the central DC timeline. The filming process is expected to continue soon. Robert Pattinson has spoken about filming, by the way, he’s mentioned that he doesn’t want to work out, you can read about in this article.

The release date of The Batman is now October 1, 2021.
