George Lucas would be proud! Disney has finally released a stuffed animal of Baby Yoda and unlike the Millenium Falcon, sales have hit lightspeed for the uber popular character from Disney’s The Mandalorian series.
The good news is that you can now purchase the lovable force wielder plush toy known the “The Child” at ShopDisney for only $24.99 USD for a *cough cough* friend or child. The bad news is that you’ll be waiting for supplies to be replenished because they are all SOLD OUT already!
So, when can you get a Baby Yoda from Disney? Good question. Those that have already pre-ordered on the site won’t even receive theirs until late April of this year, but for the rest of us there is no news whatsoever.
It was bad enough that Baby Yoda was left out of the merchandise offering from The Mandalorian last Christmas season, but now we think Disney is just messing with our collective minds. Brings back memories of trying to get one of the Boba Fett action figures in the 80s at Toys R Us. Somewhere, Lucas is smiling with that evil merchandising grin.

After a meteoric rise in 2019, becoming a dominating social media meme, and the source for a plethora of online chat room debates frequented by Geeks of all things Star Wars, Baby Yoda is truly demonstrating he is strong with the “force”. Disney execs have even compared his stardom with that of Leonardo DiCaprio as if Leo can wield a lightsaber.
The hit show featuring the small character known as “the child” has helped propel the series and has certainly provided a bounce of fan enthusiasm for the Star Wars franchise after the dismal failures of the Disney produced films had driven a stake through the heart of what was an enduring storyline and tale. Hopefully, we will see more and better developed Star Wars projects to accompany Baby Yoda.
The Mandalorian’s second season is due out this Fall from Disney and we can only hope that Disney gets its collective stuff together and can meet demand. If not, we may have a burgeoning “Beanie Babies” style frenzy in store for the 2020 holiday season. We shall see.
