It’s been quite a while since Amy Carlson has been missing from Blue Bloods and with her co-star going solo, a few seasons to be exact. She exited the show at the end of Season 7 with her character, Linda, killed off as it was revealed in Blue Bloods Season 8 that she had been killed in a helicopter crash.

After his wife’s death Wahlberg’s Danny is still a single father. The cast of Blue Bloods spoke their minds following Carlson’s exit. According to Bridget Moynahan, who plays Linda’s sister-in-law Erin Reagan, Linda’s death revealed quite a few other storylines. In Season 10, Donnie Wahlberg opens up and confides he still misses his co-star very much.

Donnie Wahlberg confessed that he misses Amy just as Danny Reagan misses his wife. That’s what he told Country Living about her absence:

“I reach out to her and we stay in touch. Trust me, Danny Reagan is still upset and Donnie Wahlberg misses her tremendously. Obviously I was going to miss her as a friend and a co-star on the show, but I also missed the little things that she did. She would help the kids in the scene like their mom.”

Donnie Wahlberg and Amy Carlson had played husband and wife for quite long and were able to form that special bond. Being the mother of the Reagan boys and a hostess at numerous family dinners, she is obviously missed on and off screen, which makes perfect sense.

Fans may still need some sort of closure on Linda. I mean, how comforting can it be to just rewatch past episodes?

Linda Reagan was killed off-screen and the way she died was a big surprise to Amy Carlson. A sudden return from the dead looks like the least viable option (pun intended).

Here’s how Donnie Wahlberg commented on Amy’s possible comeback.

“I’ve missed her in so many ways and, you know, I don’t know how we could ever bring her back. Maybe we do a dream episode where Danny dreams she’s back, I don’t know.”

One of Donnie’s suggestions was possibly bringing her back in a dream sequence, maybe on her death anniversary to console her husband Danny. If Amy Carlson has got to be back there are more than one way to bring her back including her introduction as a new character.

We had that happen before! Remember Twin Peaks? Donnie Wahlberg is thinking of doing a crossover with other CBS shows. What will come first, the crossover of Linda’s return? We’ll see.

Blue Bloods, 10 pm ET on CBS, stay tuned!
