Spoiler alert! Episode “You Can’t Save Them All”.
Kai Parker of The Vampire Diaries is back in Legacies. But only for a short time as the long imprisoned Alaric, played by Matthew Davis, did what he had to and killed Kai after being released from prison.
Will “You Can’t Save Them All’ become the last one with Kai? Chances are good it won’t as Chris Wood is still willing to play the character as he revealed himself recently.
First, everyone thought it would be Kai Parker’s only appearance in Legacies. However, we had another episode of him ravaging before he was killed. Though now it seems like he’s gone for good, let’s not forget he came back before and more importantly that Wood doesn’t mind playing some more Kai in the future.
“I told Julie [Plec], it was so fun getting to drop in. Kai’s like a bomb when you drop him in whatever is happening, and he just disturbs things and messes things up and creates chaos. And not only is that great for the story, but it’s fun to play for me to just kind of be a wrecking ball. So yeah, I would play him as long as it’s physically possible. I would definitely return.”
Nothing but ‘a wrecking ball’ best describes his character. He murdered his sister at her own wedding in The Vampire Diaries and even during his short appearance on Legacies he went on with his malicious plan to destroy the Saltzman family. Despite his short-lived comeback interrupted with his own death, there’s no better candidate for another return than Kai.
By no means does this guarantee any of his possible comebacks. As of today, Chris Wood has been confirmed for a lead role in the ABC pilot Thirtysomething(else), a follow-up of the ‘80-’90s Thirtysomething drama but not yet picked up as a series. If this happens, he might be too busy for another appearance in Legacies or even more so to be contractually prevented from it.
Anyway, it’s too early to shut the door on Kai just yet. After all, Chris Wood is willing to play him and as long as there’s a good storyline for him, who knows? At the end of the day, Kai would not be himself if not returning to take his revenge for his own death.
Watch Legacies at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
