SPOILER ALERT!!! If you haven’t seen Season 1 of The Mandalorian on Disney+ or Rise of Skywalker, turn back NOW or we are going to blow it all for you.

Upon the launch of The Mandalorian’s first season, the Star Wars fandom was buzzing furiously with theories and ideas of which characters from the broad Star Wars universe might be included into the saga.
Of course, the biggest sight was the emergence of “Baby Yoda” who has since gone into Mega Superstar Meme status and certainly gave Disney+ a humongous boost in its inaugural streaming season. Fans couldn’t get enough of the show – even those that swore off Star Wars after the “Disney Debacles” on the big screen.

So, it is no surprise that things are buzzing once again about the possibilities of familiar characters joining in or at least making cameos in the second season of The Mandalorian especially after the big reveal with the darksaber.
Here are our top picks for characters that we might see in the upcoming season based on a number of factors like comments from actors past and present, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, a bit of sleuthing, and some plain conjecture.

Darth Maul
Perhaps the greatest Star Wars villain not named Palpatine or Vader, Darth Maul was in search of the darksaber during the animated Star Wars: Clone Wars. If the sith from Episode One is involved in season two, it might just be as flashbacks to help create a timeline for how the darksaber made its way to Moff Gideon. In whatever capacity he might appear, many fans will be thrilled to see some more live-action from the sith lord.

Boba Fett
To be honest, many of us had already predicted the appearance of Boba Fett in season 1, and we may have even gotten a glimpse with the mysterious stranger at the end of episode five. Of course, we all know that Boba is assumed to be in the digestion process of a Sarlacc after being knocked into the beast’s mouth in Return of the Jedi.
That being said, Boba like his father before him has a knack for survival so perhaps we will see him in the next season. Favreau may have clued us in when he stated that Boba “is not one of the all-new original characters” in the first season. He didn’t say Boba wasn’t going to be involved though at some point. Here’s to hoping.

Bo-Katan Kryze
Two key things make this a likely possibility for season two. First, Bo-Katan Kryze is one of the most famous Mandalorians in the Star Wars universe. Second, she was last to have the darksaber and wield it and was entrusted to protect it.
If Moff Gideon has the darksaber in his possession, there is definitely a great story that needs to be told on how he obtained it. Katee Sackhoff has also been a bit vocal on Twitter about the happenings in the Mandalorian so we feel pretty strongly about this prediction for season 2.

Veterans of Clone Wars and Rebels – Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, and Ezra Bridger
There are a few reasons we see one, if not all, of this trio making an appearance. Not just because we want a reunion of some of our favorite animated characters, but because each of them has a unique tie in to the Mandalorian story arc.
Ahsoka Tano’s voice was one of the cameos during Rey’s fight with Palpatine in Rise of Skywalker and more importantly, the voice of Ahsoka, Rosaria Dawson, has been actively driving up support for her to make a live-action appearance in the franchise. Could be, we’ll see.
Sabine Wren, if you remember was the one who gave Bo-Katan the darksaber in the animated series. Also, an interesting character and a Mandalorian, Wren could make an appearance seeking to regain the darksaber or even to avenge her friend Bo-Katan if she died protecting the lightsaber.

Nobody seems to know what happened to Ezra Bridger as his story arc was left completely unfinished. Poof! He just disappeared. The padowan would no longer be young, but he wouldn’t be old either not to mention his skill with the force might be just want “Baby Yoda” needs at this point in time. Ezra was always an odd character regarding the force, so perhaps this is a perfect window.

What are your predictions and theories? What do you think of ours? We will have to wait and see what Disney has in store for us, but it is good to be talking about the possibilities in Star Wars with some excitement after so much disappointment from the films in the past several years.
