Late Night Talk Shows are still quite popular despite being overshadowed by easily accessible online entertainment. While many focus on strictly political issues and try to look very serious at times, James Corden managed to come off as clumsy and adorable nerdy guy who is mostly concerned with making cheeky jokes instead of talking politics.

However, even he faced some backlash. The most recent story is that he is not actually driving the car during his carpool karaoke segments. The rumors started after a video of a tow-truck pulling the car with him and Justin Bieber while they were filming the segment. At the same time, Corden’s performance in the biggest Hollywood fop of the year Cats has been heavily mocked by the internet.

In his latest episode of the Late Late Show, Corden decided to respond to the backlash by calling all these rumors “fake news”. He was quite serious and said that Carpool Karaoke is “TV, and sometimes we do stuff just for the sake of entertainment”. He continued by saying that when filming his segments he is driving the car with “very rare exceptions for safety”. He also turned his response in a light-hearted joke by finishing his remarks with “I want credit for it [driving the car], because I was raised driving on a completely different side of the road!”

It is hard to argue that the British guy would have some issues getting used to driving on the right side of the road. Now, James Corden uses a tow truck if his guests have safety concerns and demand a tow truck, but in many cases he is driving himself. In order to clear the things even more, Corden even shared the list of all Carpool Karaoke guests who demanded a tow truck to be used during the filming of the segment. The list contains Meghan Trainor, Cardi B, Chance, Migos, and Justin Bieber during his 3rd appearance.

“95% of the time, [he] really [is] endangering the lives of the world’s biggest pop stars”. However, he also said that the segment is “not even a carpool…. And [he] just though that we all know this”

James Corden also expressed how he never felt that he needed to address some of the aspects of the production since viewers must understand the concept of a reality TV show and it is not always real. Obviously, the show is filmed in evening and pretends to be live at midnight. There are also things that should never be taken seriously. His sarcastic response continued with him saying that “95% of the time, [he] really [is] endangering the lives of the world’s biggest pop stars”. However, he also said that the segment is “not even a carpool…. And [he] just though that we all know this”.
