The movie is not even close to being ready for post-production. However, we already have a couple of interesting things to munch on while we are waiting for the epic return of Keanu Reeves as Neo. Twitter recently exploded with a wire stunt shown by the Film Stage where Lana Wachowski’s test footage was shown. The stunt is more than impressive.
Two people jump from the roof and try to catch each other’s hands. Right after joining their hands, they freeze in air. The stunt work is very courageous and definitely has the same tension and visual flair that the very first Matrix movie had. We don’t know anything else about the video clip. It is impossible to tell which actors or stuntmen are in it and even guessing who are these characters in the movie is impossible.

For many fans, returning back to roots and using practical effects together with CGI is a good idea. The film also will continue the original trilogy instead of starting anew. Fans rejoiced after learning that Keanu Reeves will be back together with Carrie-Anne Moss and Jada Pinkett Smith. There are some big questions regarding the survival of these characters. As we all vividly remember, both Trinity and Neo “successfully” died in the culmination of the third film in the trilogy.
There are also many questions about the stunt in terms of geography. Is it happening inside the “new/old” matrix or IRL? Is it a hint at users of the powers similar to Neo? We don’t know for sure. What we definitely know from this stunt alone is that there will be interesting mixtures of practically done stunts and special effects. If the scope of this stunt is any indication of which lengths the creators are willing to go, we should expect massive city-wide battles and amazing action scenes. The movie is set to release in May 2021.
