Diana sporting a shiny golden armor in the trailer made many people quite intrigued. Gal Gadot definitely knows how to make any clothing work even if it’s made of gold and leather. Her new costume is a weird amalgamation of armor with attachable wings and more plating than ever before. It seems that she will be facing some tough opposition seeing how she, a Goddess who defeated Ares, needs to wear even more protection.
After surviving a potentially world-ending event and fighting hordes of aliens in the Justice League in the same light outfit, Diana as a character is supposed to be wearing the same type of armor in future installments of the franchise. However, in 1984, she apparently wore something different. Why?
The golden eagle armor
This bulky golden suit of armor appeared in 1996 when the comic series Kingdom Come saw the light for the first time. The story of the comic is quite weird and many fans don’t even consider it canon. On the other hand, it is the first time when Diana changed her world view completely. The armor means WAR! While she is usually depicted as a warrior whose main goal is to preserve life and bring love to mankind, in this version, she is a warring princess bringing sword and fire to her enemies.
The armor is the manifestation of the final drop in the bucket when all diplomatic measures are exhausted. Diana decides that the for talking is over and unsheathing the sword is the only option left on the table.
Who will she fight?
The main antagonist of the movie is Cheetah. While a shapeshifting woman is not something that you would pit against a Goddess, Cheetah is not someone to laugh at. Her claws are capable of ripping through literally any material including Superman’s claws. She can definitely do some damage. Her agility and strength will also make Diana work to come out victorious.
We also don’t know what Pedro Pascal’s character will be capable of in the movie. He is certainly an avid magic user as shown in the trailer.
